JEREMY GUSCOTT ON FRANCE v ENGLAND
The decision to drop Jonny Wilkinson made the headlines this week, but the fact is that he's been involved in a series of dull, boring and ineffective England performances with his display against Scotland last weekend the final straw.

Jonny won the World Cup for England with that famous drop-goal and he continues to be a fine goalkicker and fearless tackler, but he is not the sort of player to make a break and he struggles to guide a backline. The question for his replacement Toby Flood is, can you make that difference?

I think he can, based on what he did when he played against France and Scotland last season, both times alongside Riki Flutey and Mike Tindall, who are England's centres on Saturday.

Ben Foden has been brought in at full-back. He has been linking well with Chris Ashton for Northampton this season and I expect to see the same sort of stuff from them at the Stade de France.

Ashton is the top try scorer in the Premiership but he's not just scored them from simple overlaps - he's a great support runner and if someone makes a break he'll be there on the shoulder to continue the move.

Tindall will be a target for the forwards to work off and that's a key area for England - can they get some momentum going forward or will it all grind to a halt?

The English pack needs to be more dynamic. England have had possession and territory but they have not had enough of it in the right areas and in the right hands.

I think everybody would agree it's about time for these changes, but they could have come a game earlier, because France are a much better team than Scotland.

England are in no-man's land and to an outsider it doesn't seem as though they know what they are doing.

While England are in a really poor position, France are a match for any team in the world at the moment and I expect they will win by 15 points on Saturday.

Jeremy was talking to BBC Sport's James Standley.
