| Tuesday 2 March 2010 - 2230 GMT - BBC Two Presented by Jeremy Paxman "This is probably not the easiest of day for us, probably not the easiest day to be on the radio, to be honest with you, especially not this station, which I love with all my heart. So thank you very much for all your kind words." - 6 Music presenter Lauren Laverne reacting to the news that the station is facing the axe under a BBC shake-up announced by Director General Mark Thompson. Tonight, Mr Thompson will be joining us live on the programme to discuss his plan of action, which also includes closure of the Asian Network and half of the websites on BBC online by 2013. We will also be talking to friends and critics of the corporation about the strategy, the thinking behind it and its impact, and whether it is a good or bad thing. We also return to the Salford estate which Newsnight has been visiting for the last 11 years to see how its people have fared under Labour. In January we looked at the issue of housing. This time we look at teen pregnancies and school drop out rates and whether this has changed since the 90s. Jeremy at 10.30pm on BBC Two. |
