COLIN MURRAY ON THE WORLD DARTS
While it has been snowy outside the Lakeside complex here in Frimley Green, the action inside at the BDO Darts World Championship has been hotting up.

It has been a very dramatic week and a brilliant experience.

I have watched the tournament for so many years now, so to come and work here has been amazing.

Growing up in Northern Ireland, my knowledge of English geography wasn't the best. All I knew before I moved over here was that the venue was next to a lake!

The legendary atmosphere creates such a deafening noise that I have to wear ear plugs normally used in Formula One pitlanes.

As for the action on the oche, it has been magnificent.

We thought the excitement of the seconrd-round match between Brian Woods and Robert Wagner couldn't be beaten, but Dave Chisnall's quarter-final fightback against Ted Hankey was sensational.

That side of the draw has been stunning. Seeds have been knocked out from the very beginning, to the extent that only Tony O'Shea is left standing. He now faces 'Chissy', who has walloped everyone so far.

Expert colleague Bobby George has been sat next to me with a very smug grin on his face as he actually tipped Chisnall before the tournament began. When he told me last week I thought: 'What planet are you on?'

The other side of the draw has gone to type and I can't see anyone stopping Martin Adams reaching the final.

He is so calm and collected, never putting pressure on himself. In the two years either side of his world title in 2007, the man that has beaten him has gone on to win the title. An interesting omen.
