| PANORAMA - THE CHILD PROTECTORS - TONIGHT, 2 NOVEMBER 8.30PM ON BBC ONE Hello, THE CHILD PROTECTORS In the aftermath of the tragic case of Baby P, the spotlight quickly turned on social workers and tough questions are being asked about how well vulnerable children are protected. In this week's programme Panorama addresses just that concern with exclusive access to Coventry's social workers. Following the city-wide emergency response team and a local neighbourhood team, the programme shows how social workers are identifying at-risk children, assessing parents' capabilities and, if deemed necessary, separating families. It's a tall order in a vocation with low pay and a staffing crisis. So whilst juggling the day job with the time-consuming problem of multi-agency coordination and tackling the mountains of paperwork, are social workers managing to keep children safe? Panorama: The Child Protectors is tonight, 8.30pm on BBC One. FREED TO OFFEND AGAIN In last week's programme, Raphael Rowe looked behind government statistics to reveal the shocking truth about reoffending rates. The picture behind the figures shows known sex and violent offenders are committing many more serious crimes, including rape and murder after their release from prison than the statistics suggest.
